Got an offer from one of the big tech companies and it's lower than what I currently make. Not even close to what levels.fyi says for this level.

The recruiter said this is the "standard band" for my level and there's limited room for negotiation. But I have friends at the same company, same level, making 40% more.

Options I'm considering:

1. Counter with market data (levels.fyi, Blind posts)
2. Ask to be considered for a higher level
3. Walk away
4. Accept and try for promotion within a year

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Did pushing back on the level work?
