Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well. As someone who recently transitioned from finance to tech, I'm still finding my footing in the interview process, especially when it comes to salary negotiation. This is a tricky area for me, and I know it can vary widely depending on the company and role, so I wanted to tap into the community for some advice and shared experiences.

In my previous career, negotiating felt a bit more straightforward, but in tech, it seems there's a broader range of expectations and perhaps even a different culture around it. I've heard from some friends in tech that being open and transparent about your expectations can lead to better outcomes, but I'm unsure how to approach it without underselling myself or appearing too aggressive.

I'm curious about your strategies. How do you prepare for salary discussions? Do you research the market rates, and if so, what resources have you found most reliable? Also, how do you handle unexpected offers right off the bat? Any personal stories would be incredibly helpful. I want to learn from others who have navigated this more successfully than I have thus far.

Thanks so much for any insights you can share. I'm really looking forward to hearing how you all tackle this aspect of the interview process. Cheers!
