Why pure coding skills might not be enough for interviews

It seems like everyone preaches the importance of coding problems for interviews. Sure, knowing algorithms and data structures is a must, but it doesn't always reflect my ability to solve real-world issues. I mean, how often do you actually implement a binary search tree in production? Not that often. What about collaboration? System design? Those feel just as crucial.
I’ve seen candidates ace the LeetCode problems but fail miserably in collaborative settings. Interviewers often look for how you think, not just if you can spit out a correct solution. It’s frustrating. Balancing deep coding knowledge with other skills feels key, yet it’s rarely discussed. Who else feels this way?
