I shared a project where I led a cross-functional team to develop a new feature for our app. We aimed for a tight release schedule but underestimated the complexities involved.
As the deadline approached, we faced critical bugs and had to scale back on feature depth. The interviewer seemed interested in the specifics of our tech stack, notably React and Node.js, and asked how we handled the communication breakdown between developers and product managers.
I emphasized the need for clearer documentation and more frequent sync-ups, which was a key takeaway. Their follow-up questions focused on how I would approach project management differently in the future.
I suggested integrating more agile practices and continuous testing to prevent similar issues. The overall tone was positive but it felt like they were probing whether I could adapt and learn from challenges.
I left the interview feeling like the conversation was constructive, but I'm uncertain if it met their expectations for senior-level adaptability.
