The interviewer asked me to design a social media analytics dashboard. I started by discussing the user base and demographics, suggesting that the dashboard should cater to different types of users—like marketers, content creators, and analysts.
I proposed key metrics like engagement rates, audience growth, and post performance. The interviewer seemed impressed with my focus on user needs but pushed me to delve deeper into the architecture, asking about data storage and processing pipelines.
I had to quickly brainstorm about using technologies like Kafka for real-time data processing and thought of a possible setup with AWS for cloud storage, but I stumbled a bit when it came to scaling the database solution. The interviewer encouraged me to think about how data would be visualized too, which made me realize I hadn’t covered that aspect enough.
Overall, I felt like I was on the right track but could have explored more detailed architecture. At the end of the interview, I was left unsure about how well I addressed the scalability concerns, so that’s definitely a point for improvement for next time.
