Two months ago, I was sitting at my desk, contemplating a new challenge. I've been a platform engineer at a mid-size startup, gaining hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and data pipelines. Databricks has always been on my radar because of its innovative approach to data engineering. When the offer came through, I knew all that preparation had paid off.
To get ready, I dove deep into machine learning concepts and the Spark ecosystem. I spent countless evenings brushing up on system design principles and solving coding problems on LeetCode. I also tapped into my network to understand the company culture and interview processes at Databricks. While I felt confident in my technical skills, the pressure to truly showcase my capabilities was palpable.
The interview process was intense but enlightening. There were multiple rounds, including a culture fit interview and a technical assessment. One moment that nearly derailed me happened during a system design interview. I miscalculated the time it would take to process a large data set. Fortunately, I was able to clarify my thought process, which got me back on track, but it was definitely a heart-racing experience.
After what felt like an eternity of waiting for feedback, I finally received the offer. It was surreal—my hard work had culminated in this moment. The team seemed genuinely excited about the prospect of bringing me aboard, and that made all the difference. I’m thrilled to join a company that is pushing boundaries in the data space.
