A month ago, I was just a regular Engineering Manager coding on the side. I saw an opportunity at Spotify for a Staff Full Stack Engineer and decided to dive in. My background in building scalable applications gave me some confidence, but I knew I'd need to dig deeper into both technical and product knowledge.

Preparation was intense. I structured my time around coding, system design, and product management principles. I spent hours solving problems on LeetCode for backend skills and honing my JavaScript and React for front-end tasks. I even built a small project mimicking Spotify's playlist feature, which turned out to be a key talking point during the interviews.

Then came the interview rounds. I faced three technical interviews, including system design, coding, and a behavioral round—all challenging. I stumbled during the second round when asked about fault tolerance. My answers felt scattered, and for a moment, I doubted myself. Thankfully, I regrouped and clarified some concepts with practical examples, which resonated better with the interviewer.

The wait for the offer letter felt endless. After what seemed like a lifetime, I finally received a call offering me the position. It felt surreal. I realized that while I had made mistakes, the preparation and adaptability had paid off in the end. The excitement of joining a team I admired was worth all the effort put in.
