Getting a job offer at Bloomberg feels surreal! I graduated with a degree in Computer Science and was eager to dive into the world of data engineering. After spotting the job opening, I knew I had to prepare thoroughly to boost my chances. I spent around six months working tirelessly to hone my skills and gain the knowledge needed to stand out.

I kicked off my preparation by diving deep into SQL and Python, which I knew would be essential. To really get a grip, I spent countless hours on LeetCode solving data-related problems and learning about various data structures. One crucial turning point was a project I completed where I built a mini data pipeline using Python and AWS. It wasn't perfect—nothing is, right? But I learned so much about ETL processes, and the experience helped simplify complex concepts for me.

The interview process was intense. I had multiple rounds, including technical assessments and behavioral interviews. One of the hardest moments came during the coding interview when I panicked and mixed up two functions I was supposed to implement. My heart raced, and I felt like I completely blew it. But, as soon as I noticed, I took a deep breath and calmly explained my thought process. I figured that how I handled the mistake would matter more than the error itself. It turned out to be the right approach!

Throughout the process, I also focused on soft skills like communication and teamwork. I attended mock interviews with friends and even joined a local study group. Those sessions opened my eyes to different perspectives, and it was comforting to share the journey with others who were equally passionate.

Finally, receiving the offer from Bloomberg was a celebration of all those late nights and moments of doubt. The excitement was real when I got the call! Reflecting on it, I realize that preparation, resilience in the face of mistakes, and the support from my peers made a huge difference in this journey. I can’t wait to start this new chapter as a Data Engineer!
