Cloud computing has become the default platform for modern software, but most engineers interact with it at the surface level — clicking through consoles, copying Terraform snippets, and deploying to managed services without understanding the architectural patterns underneath. The gap between "I use AWS" and "I can design resilient, cost-effective cloud architectures" is enormous. This course bridges that gap.
The course is cloud-agnostic by design. It teaches patterns (auto-scaling, service mesh, blue-green deployment, strangler fig migration) not products (AWS Auto Scaling Groups, Azure Service Fabric). When specific services are mentioned — EC2, Cloud Spanner, Lambda — they illustrate the pattern, not replace understanding it. An engineer who learns the auto-scaling pattern can apply it on any cloud provider.
By the end of this course, you will have the mental models to design cloud architectures that are resilient, cost-effective, operationally sound, and appropriately complex. The target audience is software engineers who deploy to the cloud but want to make better infrastructure decisions.
