Functional Requirements:

• Create a short URL for a given long URL.
• Return the long URL associated with a given short URL.

Non-Functional Requirements:

• Low latency
• horizontal scaling by url id
• the db would include a url id and the shortend ur. the db would also include an index on the long url
• the load balancer would load them based on the hash of the long url
